It’s a tradition that goes back generations and is beloved by all: the Tipp City Mum Festival.
As the “Mum Capital of the World,” it’s only natural for Tipp City to have a festival honoring our city’s symbol. The chrysanthemum as our symbol dates back to 1957, on the suggestion of then Chamber of Commerce president Dick Stiles.
The first Tipp City Mum festival was held in October of 1959, with the largest crowd ever (at the time) assembled in Tipp City lining up to see the parade. The first festival queen was Janet Treon.
Since then, the festival has grown into the event we know and love today. This year’s event will feature an exciting schedule of events:
- Mum Festival Queen’s Pageant
- Saturday, September 14 at 7 p.m.
- Tipp City High School
- Little Mr. and Miss Mum
- Saturday, September 14 at 5 p.m.
- Tipp City High School
- Friday Night Cruise-In
- Friday, September 27 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

- Run for the Mums 5K

Throughout the festival, you can enjoy live entertainment while you mingle with friends and neighbors. You can support the festival and show your Tipp City pride by “adopting” a mum from the local Boy Scout Troop, purchasing a t-shirt, or sponsoring the festival.
I encourage you to join in on the fun this year. The festival offers good times for all ages!
