Our Fees
Lovett & House strives to be open and up-front when it comes to attorney fees, in order to give you the most helpful information when making the decision to hire an attorney.
Normally, we charge flat fees for Estate Planning matters such as living trusts, wills, powers of attorney, living wills, and health care powers of attorney. Probate and Guardianship cases have court-approved fees. For more sophisticated Elder Law work, such as Medicaid and Nursing Home Planning and Medicaid appeals, we traditionally bill either in flat fees or charge on an hourly basis with a retainer payable up front.
Work on Civil and Criminal Litigation cases is charged on an hourly basis with a retainer payable up front, except for Personal Injury and Product Liability cases; these cases are generally billed on a contingent fee basis. For Personal Injury and Product Liability cases, the client’s responsibility for paying litigation fees and expenses up front is determined on a case-by-case basis.
Initial consultations usually take up to one hour (Nursing Home Planning takes more than an hour in most cases). For appropriate cases, we can make house calls or come to the nursing home or hospital.
We have listed the rates for an initital consultation (60 minutes maximum) below, per attorney and practice area. There is never a charge for the first few minutes on the phone or for a brief email response.
