Have you ever wanted to take a step out of your comfort zone and into the world of another culture? On the weekend of September 7th, you can experience Greek culture at the Dayton Greek Festival. The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church is hosting their 54th annual festival to bring together people of Greek backgrounds and show others how to celebrate all things Greek.
The Dayton Greek Festival takes place in and around the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church at 500 Belmonte Park in Dayton and features authentic Greek food, and performances. Costumed dance groups will demonstrate traditional Greek dances to the sound of live Greek folk music. After the demonstration, guests are invited to join in and experience the excitement of the Greek dances.
Guests will also get a taste of Greece with traditional specialties made by church members and outside vendors. There will be lamb and chicken dinners, homemade cheese and spinach pies, and an assortment of Greek pastries. Wash down these tasty treats with a selection from the imported beer or wine lists.
Finally, with a full stomach and a few new experiences in tow, take a tour of the beautiful Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. This church was built in 1945 and features a painted alter and beautiful arches in the traditional style.
