Looking for something to do on your Friday night? Want to kick the month off right? Want to explore Dayton’s Oregon art district and see all that the area has to offer? If you answered yes to any of these questions, be sure to check out Dayton’s First Friday event.
First Friday is a free event that takes place, you guessed it, the first Friday of every month. June’s event will be June 7 from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will spread across several downtown Dayton locations.
First Friday will feature exhibit openings at local art galleries, street performances, roaming entertainers, outdoor concerts and other live music, art demonstrations, and an urban street cycling ride. Of course, the fun won’t end there! In addition, over a dozen local spaces, including art galleries, shops, and restaurants, will be open and participating in the event. It really has something to offer everyone.
Here are some of the highlights from last month’s (May 3) First Friday event:
- Dayton Society of Painters and Sculptors’ exhibit “Intuition”
- Dayton Visual Arts Center’s “Shakespeare for Life” event which was a week long marathon reading of Shakespeare’s works
- Live music by Rare Breed
- Live music by Puzzle of Light
- Live music by The Clifftones
- “Long Form” – an improved play at Black Box Improv Theater
- Great Dayton Flood Walk
- Urban Krag climbing gym
These are just some of the great features from the previous event, and this event promises to be bigger and better. For more information, please visit the Downtown Dayton Partnership website.
